Dannie Ellis

Dannie is a native Washingtonian. He is the youngest son of four siblings. At the age of four, he began holding drumsticks and later taught himself to play drums on a makeshift drum set. In junior high school, Dannie played the trumpet in the marching band and his mother, Sarah, helped him purchase his first drum set while he was in the 10 th grade…and the rest is history!

In 1993, Dannie toured Europe with Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers. In 2001, he gave his life to Christ and is now committed to playing the drums to lift up the name of Jesus. He is a musician in his own right. He currently worships at the Victory Life Christian Center (VLCC) in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, under the leadership of Senior Pastor, Marcellous A. Buckner.

Dannie and Marcy work together in the Music & Fine Arts Ministry at VLCC. In the spring/summer of 2003, EKKLESIA's drummers had returned to college and this created a loss within the ministry. Having worked together in ministry with Marcy and Damon, Dannie volunteered to assist EKKLESIA and has become an integral part of the ministry. You can enjoy Dannie's musical talents on EKKLESIA's upcoming new project entitled “My Secret Place”, due out in October 2005.

When Dannie is not making music, he relaxes with his wife, Erica, and new daughter, Sydney. They make their home in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C.
