Marcy F. Morman

Marcy is a native Marylander. The third of five girls, she often sought ways to entertain herself and at the age of 10 started playing piano. In grade school, she took a fond interest in the Clarinet, but that was short-lived when her sister sat on it and made it history! With a singing mother and four sisters that sing, it was easy for Marcy to exercise her singing gift as well. Mom played piano and the girls sang at church and at many family functions.

Growing up in a small town north of Baltimore, MD, Marcy was always singing and having fun with her sisters. Together, they made up songs that sometimes had no rhyme or reason, but it allowed them to develop their singing confidence. During the summer that Marcy turned 10 years old, there was revival at church. Marcy's mom, Evangelist Norma Fickens, was not able to provide piano lessons so she instructed Marcy to seek God for the gift. In obedience, Marcy asked for God's anointing to play piano; she trusted and believed God and in November of the same year she played for a wedding. When spring of the follow year came, a friend of the family gave Marcy a piano of her own, and the rest is history!

It was at Gospel Tabernacle Apostolic Faith church in Havre de Grace, MD, where Marcy received her early musical grounding under the leadership of many notable musicians and singers, but her favorite teacher was—and always will be—her oldest sister, the late Evangelist Phyllis F. Bassey. Phyllis was not only her sister, but her mentor and friend! When Phyllis went to be with the Lord in 1997, the mantle was passed to Marcy to carry on the awesome task of ministering God's word in song and on that day, 23 March 1997, EKKLESIA was born in the heart of Marcy's husband and best friend, Minister Barry A. Morman. The testimony is an awesome one and will be told!

Like Moses did for Joshua, Barry rehearsed the vision in Marcy's ears for several years and in the fall of 2001 it was time. Together, Barry and Marcy begin to seek God for voices, musicians and a producer. God gave every voice and musician that was needed. The group began its rehearsals. During a rehearsal, we were graced by the presence of a young man, Maurice “Mo” Davis. He listened, showcased his talents on the keyboard and it was evident that Mo had talent too! Before he left the premises, God spoke to Marcy's heart that Mo was to be the producer for the CD. The working relationship between EKKLESIA and Mo blossomed into a great bond and friendship. In August 2003, EKKLESIA's first project (All for Love) was produced!

Marcy is married to her best friend and life partner, Minister Barry A. Morman. They have been married for more than 10 years. Together, they have seven nieces, two nephews, and are godparents to “Jordy” Moore. They actively serve at the Victory Life Christian Center (VLCC) in Upper Marlboro, MD, under the tutelage of Senior Pastor, Marcellous A. Buckner. Barry is a part of the ministerial staff, Men's Fellowship, Audio/Visual Ministry, and heads up the Evangelism Ministry. Marcy serves as the Minister of Music and is part of the Alter and Intercessory Prayer Ministry. Both have been active bible disciples of the Victorious Living Academy since it began in 1999.

Marcy attended Harford Community College and later attended the University of Virginia. She is currently enrolled at George Mason University furthering her education.

Marcy enjoys a close relationship with her family. She enjoys traveling home to Havre de Grace to spend time with them catching up and hearing what blessings God has bestowed in the lives of her family members. She lives by the motto:  Why should I lose sleep over any problem when God is up all night—He can handle it all

Marcy, Barry and the crew of EKKLESIA fellowship together at VLCC. They are a family of believers that pray together, study together, and sing together. Marcy and Barry make their home in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC.
